Synopsis
Filial responsibility has always been a cornerstone of China’s traditional Confucian society. However, as the country races towards modernization, more and more Chinese are struggling to care for elderly members of their family. This task becomes especially challenging when the elderly fall victim to diseases and as Alzheimer’s disease or Dementia. Increasingly, families who cannot cope with caring for their elderly family members are turning towards private or state run nursing homes. This body of work looks at what life is like for individuals who are living and working in one such institution.
