Agent Orange

Pushing the prison-like iron gate, a boy came out of the ward. He showed me his disfigured arms while placing his head on my tummy. He seemed to be contented. During the Vietnam War, the U.S. military sprayed herbicides in order to defoliate forested land and deprive guerrillas of cover. The code name Agent Orange was given from the color of the orange-stripped barrels. The dioxin compound contained in Agent Orange is extremely toxic. The Vietnam War ended in 1975. However, the number of affected children still keeps increasing. Children born with birth defects are found in all parts of the country.
