3/11 Kids Photo Journal is an inspiring photography project by children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami aimed. Initiated by Curator/Editor Yumi Goto, 3/11 Kids Photo Journal provides an avenue for children from Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures to heal via art therapy and to also share their personal stories to the world through a photographic journal.

Yumi Goto, initiated a similar project in the Aceh Province in Indonesia after the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami. Drawing on her experiences, and by working together with children over a long period, this project hopes to communicate the aftermath of the disaster in affected regions in a way that differs from newspaper and television reports.

3/11 Kids Photo Journal is a wonderful project supported by a community of photographers and could do with your help. The project will resume its 2012 session this summer.
