Suna no shiro

Suna no shiro is part of a personal narrative I am currently working on in Tokyo. It is a hidden bar in the red light district of Tokyo. To me it is much more than just a bar: a place away from the norms of the society. Implicit and explicit rules seem to be suspended. A mixed group of artists, cross-dressers, transgenders and dropouts have created a space which is free of judgement. A beautifully chaotic place where everybody is given the chance to be themselves. I felt immediately accepted and I have been drawn to the place every day. They have become my friends in a very short time. They have allowed me to document their lifes in this chaos of a parallel world.
