Ebb and Flow, by Ben K. C. Laksana

The pursuit of happiness for its own sake is a fool’s errand. As a goal it is frivolous and unrealistic—frivolous because happiness is a transient state dependent on many conditions, and unrealistic because life is unpredictable and pain may arise at any time. – Ken McLeod

But perhaps as one endures the miseries of life, from jealousy to anger, from grief to despair, and not only tolerate pain but through necessity we come to thoroughly understand it, we can then understand what is meant by this miserable and transient thing called life. And perhaps see that there truly is a way out of this vicious cycle of miseries.
