About Featured Collectives.

We are going to publish the Featured Collectives book on 17th of September together with a photo exhibition. The primary objective of Featured Collectives is to showcase the art of Myanmar photographers from all over the world, and we have been looking out for every available opportunity. Why? Because photographers from our neighboring countries such as Thailand, China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, and Bangladesh are now being recognized in the international photography community, while Myanmar has been left behind, backstage.

Our country’s primary issues are its economic and political conditions. Photography started really late because of the political conditions in Myanmar, where the practice of photography was blocked by Junta for decades. We have also previously not tried to overcome language barriers to read available resources on internet such as English language articles and blog posts to expand our knowledge. And being lazy, we only looked simplistically at photographs and took cliche photos of background billboard juxtaposition, shots of elderly, and long shadows et cetera.

MMSP (Myanmar Street Photographers) was the first wave of the Myanmar Street Photography movement. We now introduce FC (Featured Collectives) – the second wave of this movement. We are now trying to showcase different approaches in this new book. We also hope that this is the very first photo book that includes the largest number of Myanmar photographers. If this book is, in any way, of help to aspiring photography enthusiasts, we are happy that we have achieved our objective of publishing this book.

  1. Great to see a Street Photography scene growing in Myanmar.

I saw a lot of great pictures by Travel Photographers that visited that country and hopefully we will see some more work from local Photographers as well.

    1. Previously I discussed with Riceball (in Singapore) before and they said they will help to sell on their shop but they want to see the book first. So hope they will accept the book. Now I’m trying for those who outsides of Myanmar also. Thanks for interesting bro.
