Terms & Conditions


The Invisible Photographer Asia Awards competition is organised by Invisible Photographer Asia Pte Ltd (IPA), an organization based in Singapore.

This awards competition is free to enter by photographers of all levels and experience, based in Asia for an extended period of time, no less than 6 months. The judges and competition organiser reserve the right to verify this condition by requesting passport and/or proof from the photographer. In cases of doubt, any photographer violating this condition will be, at a minimum, disqualified from the competition.

Photographs entered for the Street Photography Asia Award must be taken in Asia within the last 24 months i.e. anytime from 2011–2013 is accepted. Entries to the Photo Essay Asia Award must explore a social, economic or political issue in Asia, and comprise mostly photographs taken within the last 24 months i.e. anytime from 2011–2013.

The content of a photograph must not be altered in Photoshop or by any other means. No element should be digitally added to or subtracted from any photograph and the image must be a truthful representation of whatever happened in front of the camera during exposure. Retouching only to eliminate dust and scratches is acceptable. Photographers may crop a photo and perform colour corrections and processing in keeping with a realistic representation of the subject. You may change an image from colour to black and white. Extreme photo manipulation, stitching and combining of images is forbidden. The judges and awards organiser IPA reserve the right to request for the original (un‐retouched) raw image files, negatives and/or slides for examination and verification. In cases of doubt, any photographer violating competition standards will be, at a minimum, disqualified from the competition.

Each photographer must be the sole owner and author of each Entry Submission. Each photographer agrees to fully indemnify the competition organiser IPA in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person by reason of your participation and/or disqualification in the competition.

The competition organiser IPA reserve the right to disqualify and remove any Entry Submission that does not comply with our requirements, even after the Entry is submitted. IPA decisions regarding the competition, and that of our judges are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Judges and the competition organiser IPA reserve the right to disqualify entries submitted by the photographer to inappropriate awards categories or to move Entry Submissions to Categories of best fit as they deem correct, appropriate or necessary.

The competition judges and organiser IPA reserve the right not to award any prizes based on quality and standard of submitted entries.

Hard copy book submissions to the Photo Book Asia Awards will not be returned. Photographers submitting Artist Books in unique editions may request self-collection of their books from the competition organiser IPA in Singapore at the end of the competition cycle. IPA will address requests on a case-by-case basis. The competition organiser IPA assumes no responsibility for any loss or damages to Photo Books submitted for the competition.

The images and work submitted in competition entries remain the property and copyright of the author and photographer. By participating in the competition and submitting an entry, the author and photographer grant the competition organizer IPA permission with explicit rights to publish, exhibit and use the submitted work, including images and text, under the auspices of IPA and the Invisible Photographer Asia Awards , without additional compensation.

Shortlisted finalists must submit original high-resolution files (300dpi) of submitted work and images on request to qualify for prizes.

Upon notification, finalists and winners must respond within specified response time or risk forfeiting their prizes.

The competition organiser IPA assumes no responsibility for any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in the competition, and IPA assumes no responsibility for technical, hardware or software failure of any kind, for lost network connections, corrupt transmissions, other problems or technical malfunctions with regard to the contest.

IPA assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, corruption, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of Entries. If for any reason a participant’s entry cannot be viewed or is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer viruses, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud or technical failures, IPA assumes no responsibility.

IPA assumes no responsibility for damages, loss,  delays or returns of physical submission of entries, including but not limited to, Photo books, Catalogues and Artist Books.

This awards competition currently recognizes the following countries as Asia: Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor-Leste (East Timor), Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Yemen.

Competition rules, terms & conditions may be updated or modified at the sole discretion of IPA, the competition organiser.
