Popular names in Japanese Photography like Daido Moriyama and Nobuyoshi Araki cast a shadow over less known fellow japanese photographers creating equally interesting and provocative work. One such relatively unknown, but with a cultish following amongst those in the loop, is Osaka based Japanese street photographer Jun Abe.

Under Vacuum Press, Abe has published a few modest photo books including Creaturers, “Manila”, and “Kokubyaku Note”. But his best, or at least our favorite by far, is “Citizens 1979-1983.
