Exhibition: Thinking of You : Postcards and The Forgotten Art of Reminiscing

Blindboys.org in association with Travel Photo Jaipur will be presenting a large scale photographic intervention Thinking of You : Postcards and The Forgotten Art of Reminiscing at the former Jaipur Art School in Kishanpole Bazaar. The exhibition has been designed and researched by Akshay Mahajan.
In the age of Whatsapp, Instagram and Twitter, we celebrate this self-conscious anachronism – “the postcard”. We takes over the former Jaipur Art School in Kishanpole Bazaar to create a site-specific exhibition that renders homage to the vintage postcard, to its messages, and to how it shaped a bygone vision of journeys.

Thinking of You : Postcards and The Forgotten Art of Reminiscing

To add local flavour, we are throwing in some trompe-l’oeil surprises, courtesy of the fairground photographers of Rajasthan, as documented by photographer Aradhana Seth.

Join us to scribble your very own “wish you were here” memories, and talk about the weather with us. Lassis are on us.

The exhibition opens on the Friday, 5th February 2016 at the former Jaipur Art School at Kishanpole Bazaar. The exhibit is open from 10:00 to 16:30 and entry is free as always.

Acknowledgement : Photographs in colour by Aradhana Seth. Some images in B&W are from the collection of Aradhana Seth while others have been researched by Akshay Mahajan.
