Telling Stories in Photographs

IPA Craft & Tools 11 Comments

When one says ‘tell a story with your photographs’, one usually means have content, perspective and a voice in the pictures you shoot – not write a long bedtime fairytale in your captions. Sometimes the voice – the content – is visible through a series of images, an essay, sometimes a single photograph is most potent. Sometimes your audience will see your perspective, appreciate your content and feel your voice, sometimes they won’t. They may even interpret the photograph entirely different to your emotions and intentions when you took it, but that itself, is the story of photography.
