Broken People
In idyllic Luang Prabang, locals have few options when they fall ill. A Chinese investor saw the need for a better medical facility and built the Luang Prabang Chinese Hospital in September 2011. Still, getting the locals to understand and accept modern medicine is a struggle. Locals, many poor villagers living in the mountains, prefer to see their witch doctors and only come to the hospital as a last resort. Often, it is where they come to die.
