Twins, by Cuong Do Manh

“Twins” is an intimate portrait of Huy and Hung, a pair of albino twin brothers who live in the Ha Tinh province in Central Vietnam.

They were born in 2002 to a poor family who live in the Ha Linh Village which suffers harsh, devastating floods every year. Huy and Hung have 3 elder siblings who have since married and started their own families, leaving them to fend for themselves against daily difficulties.

I met Huy and Hung while visiting Ha Linh village on an assignment trip and soon became close friends. After gaining their trust and consent from their family and school, I decided to become part of their lives – eating, sleeping, playing and sharing in their daily lives. It wasn’t long before Huy and Hung became a big part of my life too.

These photographs are a window to the world of Huy and Hung – and what a special, wonderful and different view it is to my own.
