Hong Kong Photo Book Awards
Homebound by KC Kwan |《下流》關錦昌 was last year’s winner at the Hong Kong Photo Book Awards and received a publishing sponsorship up to HK$100,000 from Asia One Books.
The aim of the Hong Kong Photo Book Awards is to promote the development of digital photographic culture in Hong Kong, while simultaneously paying public respect to the photo book as an autonomous art form.
2013 Theme:
SENSE AND SENSIBILITY
History, culture and geography have all conspired to make Hong Kong what it is today: a territory of extreme climate, politics, architecture, density and opportunity. What makes it all make sense is people, and a unique way of thinking, acting, seeing and believing – of reconciling the heart with the mind – that is the true soul of this city.
The essence of it is everywhere, expressed in how Hong Kong people relate to each other, pursue their passions, and how they react to and shape their worlds. It is found in both the everyday and the extraordinary – the constant balancing of Sense and Sensibility in a way that can only be Hong Kong.
I am on the jury panel this year.
Call for submissions is open till 31st October 2013.
