Singapore FLAT
When I look at the local spaces around me in Singapore such as the void decks at Housing Development Board blocks and their surroundings, I notice that most of their features are plain utilitarian, built by architects and engineers to serve the specific function of housing communities.
I am drawn to the arbitrary arrangement of all the functional shapes, structures, lines, and artifacts that add to the construction of the whole. I can’t help but reduce them down to their elemental forms, and they coalesce to emerge as a new abstraction.
Singapore FLAT is an on-going project.
